LOOKING BACK … WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE GIFT?

As the dust settles on another busy Christmas, what was your favourite gift?  Maybe it was the pure joy in a child’s eyes as they woke Christmas morning?  Maybe it was spending time with loved ones you don’t get to see every day?  Or did you re-connect with friends from long ago, and maybe even reminisce about some friends who are no longer with us?  Maybe your favourite luxury is simply time to catch your breath.

Chances are, what you are most grateful for this Christmas … did not come in a box with a ribbon.

As the year draws to a close, we naturally reflect on the good, the bad, the humourous and the weird events in our lives.  Our favourite sports channels LOVE their weekly, monthly and annual top “misplays!”  Reminiscing about the year gone by is a very natural process as we approach New Year’s Eve.

It is much harder to take a step back from all the emotions involved, and become an observer in your own life.  What you are grateful for at Christmas, and from this past year, holds the key to WHY you will be working towards your goals in 2020.  The good and the bad from 2019 can hold some valuable lessons—or we can continue to learn those same lessons AGAIN in 2020.

The mistakes, bloopers, and laughable moments are there to create great stories!  Life can be serious—but laughing and having a sense of humour puts it all in perspective again.

The weird things?  Well, do you believe in coincidences?  If not, then the so-called weird incidents from 2019 are special.  Somewhere in those stories lies a message, a sign, or a clue to your unique path in life.  How will you use that guidance?

So before you set your lofty goals for 2020, and the decade to come, take a few moments for honest reflection about the year gone by.  Or, if you want to take it to the next level, work with a partner.  Someone who knows you well can help point out some of your blind spots—maybe even an event or two that you are already trying to minimize?

Looking back on the year and the decade, what are you most grateful for?  This is the first step to creating a plan of action for 2020—because it’s never just about collecting doors, or houses, or properties.  Your true wealth is found in those moments you are most thankful for.  Let’s create a financial freedom that gives you more of that!
