WHERE DOES FINANCIAL FREEDOM BEGIN?
“Just tell me where to start.”
Often, when we chat with newer real estate investors, this is one of the first sentences we hear. But the journey has already begun by the time we meet them. The investor “heros” have a variety of origin stories, but at some point they all reached a decision: Life has more to offer.
Sometimes we meet people who are completely exasperated with investing in the stock market. Right now, they might be deeply worried about market volatility with the US election on top of the Second Wave. But should they simply park their money and earn no interest for a few months? Until Covid is over? That doesn’t seem wise either!
Sometimes we meet people who have truly reached a crisis point, or watched a loved-one endure a financial crisis. For example, some people reach out after 20 years at a great job and a great company; they might have a severance package, but no pension—now what?! These investors are motivated to say “never again” or “not me.” They are sure there is a better way to create their own financial future.
And some of our investor friends are simply overwhelmed with all the advice from books, media, family, financial advisors and friends. Everyone has a plan—or so it appears. These folks often wonder how they can invest their money in something simple, something they understand, and something that doesn’t require more work in these stressful times. These friends don’t need something else to “manage” on a weekly or monthly basis.
So when people meet us, and ask where to start, we just smile. They’ve already begun! They’ve already decided to create a stronger and better financial future. We explain that real estate investing partnerships can work in many ways and ask them specifically what are they looking for? And yes, there will be some work to get these investments set up initially—not a lot.
Greg and I have over 12 years of renovation experience—we understand houses and tradespeople. And after over a decade as entrepreneurs, we understand business, bookkeeping and carefully papering the deals we do. We now have over 6 years as “landlords;” this means we are constantly improving our leases and processes—but we understand the basics of property management.
And we’re really excited about this phase of the real estate cycle! In 2014, how many times did we hear investors say, “I wish I had invested back in 20XX, when prices were lower.” Well, in some cases, prices are right back at that point! We’re looking forward to bringing our friends and family along in this journey with us—because we’re passionate about creating our own financial future too! Connect with us any time you’ve made the decision for financial freedom—no commitment, just a chat about your choices.
