FINDING A LITTLE CALM AMIDST THE CHAOS
Oh yes, this is going to be a challenge! 2021 has been a bit of a year of system overload for many people. To put it mildly.
Heat waves and fires, record rainfall and floods, supply chain problems and labour shortages have all complicated the lives of real estate investors. And now, for the grand finale, December brings a whopper of a Covid resurgence from out of left field. You’re kidding right? If this was a movie script, we’d all pass it off as an over-exaggeration of obstacles that the protagonists need to overcome.
Ha, nope! It’s real, and we’re just starting the next event. Throw in a little Christmas stress for many of us, and perhaps a little family drama, and the next few weeks looks quite challenging.

If you live in Alberta, you’ve been through 7 years of tough times, hoop-jumping and manure shovelling. If you live in Canada, you’ve already managed and thrived despite the pandemic. Another wave is most definitely not our first choice – but we’ll be ok. And then this too shall pass.
Many of us have already adapted to a higher level of chaos in our daily lives. We already have the skills to deal with this. And here in Canada, we have so much to be grateful for.
As the intensity and possible panic of the next wave rises, resist the temptation to get caught up in the storm. Our mental health depends on it. The media will thrive on each new “record high” and “unprecendented, even for Covid” event. Taking control of what we feed our brains can go a long way to helping us navigate this next chapter.
What are we doing? Keeping our mindset hopeful and focused on recovery. Reflecting on a year of obstacles overcome! And looking forward to our goals for 2022. Nope, no rocket science here. Just the self-discipline to keep moving in the direction of our financial freedom, and to search for the opportunities and calm amidst the chaos.
