Remember the good ol’ days?  Like I mean 2 years ago!  Pre-Covid.  When we used to gather in person to learn, share stories, celebrate, meet new people, ….  One of our favourite conferences was with REIN (the Real Estate Investing Network).  And one of my favourite lessons was “the list.”

At least every couple of years, a speaker would bring out “the list.”  Maybe more often, but this is how I remember the story!  The REIN conferences were full of motivation and education about investing in real estate.  There was even a “Property Ladder” that guided us through the how-to aspects of investing.  The first time I attended one of these conferences my mind was blown!

And then … drum roll please…the list!

Okay, this isn’t the exact list, but RBC put out a recent version that we’re sharing here today.

This is the list for all the “ya but” people.  Look carefully.  There are REALLY good reasons to avoid investing in stocks, bonds, real estate or a new business – in EVERY single year!  Huh.  Go figure.  And yet many of today’s millionaires can tell you about their experiences, and how they invested – and grew, despite the realities on “the list.”

As we wind up a crazy year, and enter a new year of uncertainty, I am reminded of “the list.”  There have been many years in history with better reasons to avoid investing in real estate.   Covid feels overwhelming in the moment, but it’s really just another global crisis.  Our global community has worked through a lot of other problems, wars, economic dangers, etc….  We will undoubtedly find a way forward through this one.

So, as we enter 2022, we’re keeping the Why Not list in perspective.  We’re embracing and planning for new opportunities.  And we’re asking ourselves “why not now?” “why not us?” and “why not 2022?!”  Because we know that 10 years invested in real estate leads to life-changing financial situations.  Follow our journeys @MtnEdgeDevelops and @MtnEdgeRenovate.

Wishing everyone a prosperous and healthy 2022!
