AS THE CONDUCTOR …
We’re taking a little break from all the stats to consider the big picture. Today, we’re imagining that each of us acts like the conductor of our Financial Freedom. And each musician plays a different instrument to bring our larger financial picture into the auditorium of Life, as an exquisite auditory masterpiece.
From the humble flute, to the commanding cello, each artist has a role to play. The conductor is guiding the entire performance from beginning to end. These days, maybe there is even an AI technician who is creating a visual masterpiece to go with the music?!
My point is simply that nothing begins, continues or ends without the conductor. Whether it is during practice or performance.
As real estate investors, our “job” is to conduct each artist, and replace as necessary. Some members may not even be required in our orchestra. For example, we may choose not to have an AirBnb player. This is neither good nor bad; they’re simply not required on our team. And some members may need to be replaced. For example, as we grow, we may need a different accounting team (like for all of you who are looking to the USA for your next investment choice).
While we are creating our masterpiece, it is also important to remember that the entire musical score is never 100% Crescendo. The quiet moments will weave in with louder moments. The musicians may even have an intermission—aka, take a break. Again this is neither good nor bad in our opinion. Patience and strategy are equally important to those moments when we conduct our artists to play “full blast.”
Our role as General Contractor and Custom Home Builder is very similar. Although I’m not sure the sound of the table saw qualifies as music?! Some of our tradespeople are genuine artists; for example, one of our stonemasons is truly extraordinary! And we work with a variety of trades and suppliers that consistently produce high quality products and results! But like any orchestra, some musicians and some instruments are changed out from time to time. This is simply business in 2024; it is truly important to find the right fit for our teams. Recently we have connected with a new framer who is amazing!
We are truly blessed to live in Calgary these days. Real estate investors are achieving successful masterpieces with a wide range of instruments these days. We find the audience is full of opinions, as is normal. However, we are continuing to take on the responsibility of conducting our financial freedom masterpiece. For all of our colleagues who are also continuing to grow, be challenged, and create amazing homes for people, we applaud you!
