HAPPY DANCE
Let’s take a commercial break for a happy dance!
Usually we talk about relevant statistics and trends. Often we focus on current events in and around the Calgary area. Most of our posts refer our friends and colleagues to important experts, or the most accurate data that we can find.
Today? None of that. It’s break time.
Real estate investors, landlords, builders and developers are living in a world of chaos and problems. Some weeks can feel like there are hidden obstacles around every corner. It’s too easy to get dragged down and hyper-focused on the negatives and crises. Why keep going?
We all got into this for empowering goals and/or financial freedom. It can be easy to forget, or lose a little enthusiasm, for our long-term goals. So, we’re calling a time-out.
This weekend we’re focusing on the positives. Here’s some examples from our recent week:
- Permits approved!
- Special-order siding arrived!
- Engineering report completed!
- An important product is actually in stock—no waiting required!
- Canada still has a hockey team in the running for the Stanley Cup!
- Sunshine and warmer weather mean it’s patio season—and the bugs aren’t in full peskiness yet!
- Windows are finally arriving Monday!
- It’s warm enough for concrete, and they’re scheduled for Tuesday!
- Family, friends, and a delicious meal planned for Saturday!
- It’s the weekend. If it takes a couple of hours to answer a phone call, no one should be having a hissy fit. (I dare any of us to put our phones away for even 24 hours during the busy season!)
- Bonus: We were privileged to listen and learn from some mentors/experts on Monday. Realized how rare great leadership is in 2024. Appreciated these gentlemen for their willingness to share and provide a little clarity for our journey.
We’re not completely going all Pollyanna here. The grind is real. The negativity, hostility and irrational behaviours are a challenging part of almost every client/vendor interaction these days.
But it’s the weekend. Time for a break. Just a little calm, less stress, maybe even some joy? Create a quick list of 10 positives that happened this week—it’s easier than you think. Rent received on time—add it to the list. Then go out this weekend to follow your bliss—maybe even do a happy dance?!! Don’t worry, that financial freedom plan will be waiting for all your new energy on Monday morning.
